AlmaWin uses innovative packaging solutions to conserve resources. Six folding boxes made of grass-based cardboard are new additions to the product line. Compared to virgin fiber and recycled cardboard, this material requires less water and energy and results in lower CO₂ emissions and reduced use of process chemicals. In addition, the material’s natural scent creates a natural experience.

Grass-based cardboard…

…reduces water consumption

Producing paper from pulp (wood) requires approximately 6,000 liters of water per ton. In contrast, producing grass-based paper requires only about 2 liters. Furthermore, the water used is less polluted, as fewer process chemicals are needed when manufacturing grass-based cardboard.

…reduces energy consumption and CO₂ emissions

The production of grass paper consumes only about one-tenth of the energy required for wood-based paper. CO₂ emissions are reduced thanks to the regional sourcing of grass fibers and the resulting short transport distances. Furthermore, grass—a rapidly renewable raw material—contributes to CO₂ offsetting.

…preserves habitats for insects

Our grass cardboard consists of 30% grass and 70% recycled cardboard. The sun-dried grass comes from agricultural land set aside as ecological compensation areas. These habitats are mowed late in the year, so the grass is no longer suitable for animal feed. As a result, valuable habitats for insects and bees remain intact well into the fall.

…is 100% recyclable

The folding boxes made of grass-based cardboard can be disposed of in the recycling bin just like conventional cardboard boxes and are 100% recyclable. Alternatively, they can be added to the compost, since they are printed with water-based, mineral oil-free inks.

With this, we are expanding our product line to include six products with an optimized resource footprint.
