CO2 emissions, avoiding, reducing, offsetting

For a clean future

In order to live up to our responsibility for a future worth living, we are taking the next step towards climate protection by offsetting the unavoidable CO2 emissions

AlmaWin had the CO2 emissions calculated and offset them by purchasing 489 climate protection certificates for the period 1.9.2024-31.08.2025.  The calculation of greenhouse gases shows emissions that arise along the upstream value chain in direct connection with the production and provision of preliminary products. In addition, all emissions associated with incoming and outgoing logistics were taken into account.

This is how we offset

To offset the unavoidable CO² emissions, we have decided, with the support of our partner Fokus Zukunft GmbH, to support the hydropower project in Myanmar by purchasing emission certificates.

The Dapein (1) hydropower project in the Union of Myanmar is located on the Dapein River in the town of Bhamo in the state of Kachin, Myanmar. The project is a newly constructed hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 240 MW (60 MW×4). The electricity will be fed into the regional power grid, which consists of the Myanmar National Power Grid and the South China Power Grid.

More about the project

Focus on sustainability

The project also pursues 3 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

No. 7 - Affordable and clean energy:

The electricity generated by the project will replace some of the electricity in the Myanmar National Power Grid and the South China Power Grid, which is mainly generated from fossil fuels.

No. 8 - Decent work and economic growth:

The construction and operation of the project will increase tax revenue for the Myanmar government, promote economic development in the region and create new employment opportunities for the local population.

No. 13 - Climate action

In addition to reducing CO2 emissions, the project will help reduce the emission of other pollutants such as NOx, SO2, particulate matter, etc.
